St. Louis Rams “mystery” candidate: Jason Garrett; finalists set
Jason Garrett, the assistant head coach-offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, is the so-called “mystery” candidate in the Rams’ head-coaching search, league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Monday. Barring an unexpected complication, Garrett will interview Wednesday in Los Angeles as one of the Ram’s finalist interviews.
According to league sources, the Rams have settled in on five finalists: current Rams coach Jim Haslett already has taken part in his finalist interview last week in L.A.; Minnesota assistant head coach-defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is scheduled to interview there Tuesday; and it has now been confirmed that Steve Spagnuolo of the New York Giants will interview in Los Angeles on Thursday. (The Giants have granted St. Louis permission to speak to Spagnulo.)
The fifth finalist is Baltimore assistant head coach-defensive coordinator Rex Ryan. The only reason why Ryan was interviewed in Baltimore Sunday instead of in Los Angeles is because the Ravens are still alive in the NFL playoffs. Whether the Rams can afford to wait on Ryan, particularly if the Ravens win Sunday, remains to be seen.

Jason Garrett??
Not Jason Garrett or Jim Haslett.
I like the candidates except for Haslett and Garrett. Haslett, been there done that!! and Garrett can keep his dysfunction in Dallas. Dallas must not think he’s coach material or they would have fired Phillips and promoted Garrett in fear of losing him to another team. I think if your not going to get Shanahan or Cower I like Spags, Ryan, and Frazier in that order. You know we need help on D. I have faith that Devaeny will make the right decision!!!!
Go RAMS
Frazier or Ryan please. W/ Martz as the offensive coordinator.
I agree that if Garrett was that hot of an assistant Dallas would never let him go, instead fire the overinflated retread Phillips. The rest of the list of possible candidtew with the exception of Fassel, please, are all okay. Go after one of the young get in your face coaches and lets get started. The time is now for new blood.
Seems logical that this year’s performance should be a barometer. Haz won two games (architect of current defense, too). Garrett’s offense imploded, he’s overrated just like the rest of the Cowboys.
Ryan or Spags for me. Please not Haslett though!

If Garrett is a finalist I’m not so sure our so called GM is as good as everyone thinks. Cut me a break. Spags or Ryan. Maybe Frazier. We need a D and someone who demands and gets respect. It doesn’t seem like Garrett gets much respect. Even Romo and TO called him out. I’m just afraid after all this dog and pony show we are going to end up with Hazlett and another several years of losing. Please prove me wrong Devaney!
I agree with the others in eliminating Haslett and Garrett. Ryan -anybody would look good with that defense- he didn’t develop it he was along for the ride. I would lean toward Spags and Frazier- both quality assistants, football men and based on previous articles good people who the players respect and play for. These 2 seem to hold the players accountable- which is what the Rams need.
Go get’em Billy!
It doesn’t matter, you all need to start preparing for the Haslett/Martz marriage that will be occuring.
