Bajema expects offer from St. Louis Rams; Pace arrives in Baltimore

As free-agent tight end Billy Bajema wrapped up his visit in St. Louis, he expected a contract offer from the Rams on Wednesday night. If all goes well in negotiations, Bajema could be signed in a day or two.

Meanwhile, former Rams left tackle Orlando Pace arrived in Baltimore late Wednesday afternoon for his visit to the Ravens. After seven Pro Bowls, two Super Bowls and 12 NFL seasons, Pace didn’t make the trip to Baltimore for the free meal. Although not necessarily in a hurry to find a new team, he’s obviously serious about the Ravens, and has a number in mind contract-wise that could lead to a deal.

Hope they sign him. He’ll take Becht’s place. They’ve had him targeted for awhile even though I don’t know much about him other than the little that’s been posted.

The rams haven’t had a kick ass tight end in years and this will be the same old story!!
He was fluke with the 49er’s and will be here!!

08 - 2 rec for 34 yards
07 - 0 rec
06 - 0 rec
05 - 5 rec for 54 yards

why don’t we just sign a tackle and let him play 2nd TE?

Is there something I am missing?

Why would a fan get excited about this guy?

Ugh…..

McMichael is still the main TE, Bajema will fill Becht’s role as a blocking TE.

Sweet name “flash”… it’s obvious that you have no idea what you are talking about. you are probably that fan that SITS in front of me while i am standing yelling during the other teams third down attempt. fools like you give saint louis the “baseball town” label. Thanks for showcasing to all of us that you have no idea what a tight end is used for. hey “flash”, do me a favor and look at how many catches the ravens, steelers, colts, giants, etc (teams that win) back-up tight ends have. tight-ends, until recently, have been used for BLOCKING! anyway, great pickup Spags… love the direction

What don’t some of these people understand about Spags and Billy D saying they are going to run the football! They are not paying him block not catch, look it up! He gets let loose not because he can’t block instead teams don’t want to just pay for a blocking specialist. McMicheal is not the best blocker in the world if you haven’t noticed.

Bajema is a smart, high-character guy, who was a high school quarterback, who can actually catch the ball, who likes to block, and who comes relatively inexpensively. Seems like a good signing to me.

Don’t the Rams have about a dozen tight ends already? Do any of them ever contribute anything?

C’mon people -Bajema would strictly be a blocking TE, he is not going to be the the next Gonzalez or Gates. His purpose is to help on short yardage and goal line. This is another building block for the running game- I agree that it is another good move by Billy D and Spags- another young player with some upside.
