Shortly after his release by the St. Louis Rams, left tackle Orlando Pace paid a free-agent visit to Baltimore. The Ravens made a contract offer, but Pace continued to look around.

On Monday, league sources told the Post-Dispatch that Pace is in Chicago paying a free-agent visit with the Bears. Pace would be re-united with coach Lovie Smith, who was defensive coordinator in St. Louis from 2001-2003.

Bears are known for being being cheap and not paying players, coaches, etc. what the rest of the league pays. Pace is wasting his time! He needs to knock on Washington’s door.

redzone20, you need a fact checker. the adage of the bears being cheap is old. john tait was the highest paid offensive lineman in ‘04, they gave moose $30M in ‘05, and in the past two seasons have made tommie harris the highest paid d-lineman in the game (until haynesworth), gave urlacher $18M more in money, briggs, hester, tillman.

the bears problem isn’t spending money, it’s spending money wisely. that and busted draft picks.

lovie smith is a personnel genius. I mean, how else could he have convinced the Rams brass that Jamie Duncan just as good a player as London Fletcher for a whole lot cheaper…

I live in northern Illinois, so I always hear what’s going on with the Bears. I am pretty convinced that Lovie Smith has no clue. I didn’t like him when he was with the Rams, & I don’t like him now. The Bears’ offseason moves have been laughable.

I wish the BIG man all the best and success. I think it would be a great move for him to go to Chicago and be with Lovie Smith. Lovie knows the BIG man quite well and in his waining years before he retires he will see and get great respect and work in the Windy City.

BIG man best of luck again…………….YOU deserve the best, and I wish you well…………

Its good he’s gone,he is an injury prone player. The Rams had to constantly shuffle players around to fill the left side, while Pace sat on the bench soaking up a healthy paycheck. Let’s see how he holds up in Chicago! Drafting Taylor will be a wise choice.
