Report: St. Louis Rams, SS James Butler have a deal
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
We’re hearing that the Rams and free-agent strong safety James Butler have agreed to contract terms but have been unable to confirm that locally. But Denver TV station KDVR, citing league sources, is reporting that Butler will sign with the Rams on Tuesday and get a four-year deal that, with incentives, could net him $17 million.
Hopefully we’ll be able to nail this down and report further soon.
All for now . . .

Lets hope these last couple of signings by the ‘football guys’ work out a lot better than the mistakes(bennett, chavous, etc) that their predecessors made.
Good move!
Now sign Pace AND Holt, try Barron at FB, and draft the best available OT with the 2nd. round pick. That would free up the first pick and allow the Rams the opportunity to draft Curry with their 1st round pick.
Solid addition. One less position to worry about come draft day.
good job now we can move onto the second phase
I wonder how good he will be on the rams
Wait and see i guess on this signing.
If this is true it’s a great thing. Fills another hole we have. Way to go Rams
From what I’m hearing, Schwartz, a defensive guy, is going to take Curry at one. Who is Plan B?
Bout dam time resign pace trade holt to jets get a draft pic get macklin or crabtree first pic
ram`s front office finally get it. that`s all i need to say.
As a Giants fan let me tell you, Butler is not a flashy player, you won’t see him running around the field like a drugged up rooster a la Troy Polamalu, he won’t be putting people out of commission with his crushing hits like a Brian Dawkins, but he’s a solid, smart player that will be where he’s supposed to be on just about every play and if you have some young players in your secondary, you can depend on him to get things tightened up back there. The Giants were ready to step into the Kenny Phillips era, otherwise Butler would’ve been signed up here, you can believe that, so by no means are you getting a throw away.
Good luck with Butler and Spags…
