St. Louis Rams receiver Torry Holt asks for his release
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Realizing he no longer fits in the team’s plans, seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt has asked for his release from the Rams, league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Wednesday.
The Rams have been shopping Holt, 32, on the trade market, but so far there have been no takers. Holt is due a $1.25 million roster bonus on March 17, so it’s unlikely he will be a Ram beyond then.
But with free-agent wide receivers being signed daily around the NFL, and hundreds of millions of dollars already spent six days into free agency, Holt is seeking some closure to his time in St. Louis.

Do whatever he wants. He has earned it. He gave it all for the Rams every week. Now we can give him his freedom on his terms.
Has Holt slowed down? Of course he has, just like every player before him has. Too old? Heck no. Granted his YAC has disappeared but those hands and route running haven’t. There is a place for Torry on this team at a reduced salary, so I wouldn’t give up on him just yet. Ramerhead8696 comments shows you should change your name to Knucklehead8696. Holt was and is better as a ball player than you will be at anything you ever try in your life, except for showing your ignorance.
In retrospect - we held onto the wrong receiver.
shame
Don’t release Holt are you crazy?
he will be missed, but it’s time to let him go. he deserves to go play for a contender, he’s suffered long enough.
Why do St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Cardinal fans want to keep players on the downside of their careers? I believe in the Branch Rickey approach, trade them while they still have value. The most successful NFL team this decade is the NE Patriots. They don’t keep their older players.
Holt has slowed down-he is not a #1 receiver. Trade him before the draft.
end of a era my friends, end of a era.

We Did Nothing Wrong
Torry should talk to Arizona about a job….. Oh, darn. He bad mouthed the current Arizona Starting QB, Warner. This just another example of being careful what you wish for. He and others refused to play for Scott Linehan & Jim Haslett, so they got a new coach. Now there are several guys looking for work. How fitting? The FO might have ruined the GSOT, but the non performers ruined their own job status.
Spags wants to run the ball. Bulger can still hand off, maybe throw 5 yds for a 1st down,
This will hurt us badly…we do not have anyone to step in his place and can’t waste our first pick on a wr when we need either an OT or LB more.
Are you kidding BB? The Patriots don’t keep their older players? They are the showcase team for winning with older players. Oakland’s (at the time) O-coordinator said that Moss had (age-related) “declining skills” and look what he does as a Pat. Look at the average age of the Pats’ linebackers over the last few years. It can be done with the right coaching: take advantage of the older players’ sound technique and smarts and hide their weaknesses. Torry could still be highly productive for the Rams if the new staff were’t determined to have a youth movement.
