St. Louis Rams receiver Torry Holt asks for his release

Realizing he no longer fits in the team’s plans, seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt has asked for his release from the Rams, league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Wednesday.

The Rams have been shopping Holt, 32, on the trade market, but so far there have been no takers. Holt is due a $1.25 million roster bonus on March 17, so it’s unlikely he will be a Ram beyond then.

But with free-agent wide receivers being signed daily around the NFL, and hundreds of millions of dollars already spent six days into free agency, Holt is seeking some closure to his time in St. Louis.

If the Rams release Torry, he will not go to Seattle…the Seahawks already have three high priced wide receivers. I could see Torry ending up in Philly, Tampa, Baltimore, or Minnesota. I think anyone of those teams would be willing to give up a 2nd day pick to make sure they get him.

He has lost a step and is no longer an elite receiver. Bruce was far better that him… they should of kept Bruce last year and shopped Holt. Now they will probably get nothing for him.

“league sources” quote AGAIN!

Is this a quote by a National Football LEAGUE source? Or just a represenative secretary that may represent a player? League source MEANS League! Hence National Football LEAGUE!

It amazes me that the rams would not want him in their plans. The team already has basically no wide receiver experience left. With all the good wr’s getting picked up in free agency the Rams appear…. screwed
