It has taken a while, much longer than expected, but the Rams were closing in on a free-agent deal Wednesday night that would bring Gus Frerotte back to St. Louis as the backup quarterback behind Marc Bulger.

League sources told the Post-Dispatch that Frerotte was expected to be on the practice field Thursday when the Rams begin a three-day minicamp _ their first under new head coach Steve Spagnuolo.

Frerotte spent the 2006 and ‘07 seasons backing up Bulger in St. Louis, but was cut in favor of Trent Green last offseason and signed with Minnesota. He started 11 games for the Vikings.

you jerkoffs have someone better in mind? or do you just voice inane comments and opinions but no real solutions to the problem? have you considered the cap the Rams have to work with? So come on, put forth a name that is realistic.

Frerotte is an April fools joke. You would think this guy would retire after all the teams he has played with. Bad bad move here. I hoped the Rams only offered old Gus about $2 to play because that is all he is worth….

So, how many games did he win last season? A short term measure, sure, but not a bad move. Who care what comments he made last year. Its next season I care about.

Frerotte- come on give me a break, lets do something with a young QB … He started ll games for minn, if he was so great why is he looking for a new job? Again new direction is with a young QB that something good can be built on.. Billy D. lets don’t stay with the same on thing. For the money you will spend on Frerotte you could look at least 4 darkhorse QB’s put them on the pratice squad and see what they can do. Chase Daniels and others.. rebuild new direction remember.
