Jackson learns quickly that new St. Louis Rams coach is “a disciplinarian . . . a straight shooter”

Like his Rams teammates, running back Steven Jackson is still getting to know new coach Steve Spagnuolo. Still, Jackson had learned this much:

“You can tell he’s definitely a disciplinarian . . . a straight shooter,” Jackson said Thursday after the second of two minicamp practices. “There’s no gray areas. He’s going to tell you what he expects and coach you up.”

That could be just what the Rams need, Jackson mused, after going 5-27 over the past two seasons. “You could definitely feel the tempo, the change of the team, the aggressiveness of the defense now and the timing of the offense,” he said. “It looks to be exciting. We have a lot to learn still, and it’s good to start.”

Jackson also is excited about the free-agent acquistions of center Jason Brown and fullback Mike Karney. “Both guys are big-time pickups for us,” Jackson said. “We’re really excited that we were able to sign Mike and then put the icing on the cake with a center that comes from an organization that is known for running. I think they’re really going to help us out.”

All for now . . . more Friday.

Maybe that’s what you need Steven Jackson,a coach that will straighten you out and coach you up just like the rest of the team.Spags is a grinder and the team will find out that not only talent wins but character also.

Spags is just what this team needed and Jackson and company are going to benefit from his guidance. Now we need a great draft to keep this going in the right direction, no more reaching for a talent.

The biggest difference is that now we have ALL the guys heading in the same direction. It seemed like half were on board and the other half didn’t believe in the system. When that happens nobody gives enough to be successful. These guys gave up. That doesn’t work in the NFL. These are exciting times fellas. I can’t wait to see this new team.

All of the players sound so upbeat when talking about Spags - I love it. There definitely seems to be a new attitude with this team. Can’t wait for the season to start.

Everyone talks up their boss until the first dagger is planted…

That being said, I saw an interview with Jackson after the practice and he was still sweating… That more than I have seen him sweat in the last two years combined… GO RAMS!~~~
