In an interview with the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Dave Checketts re-affirmed his desire to try to purchase the Rams. “It would be a great next step, it really would,” he told the paper.

Checketts first told Bernie Miklasz of the Post-Dispatch last week that he would like to put together a group of investors to purchase the controlling share of the Rams from majority owners Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez, who are selling their 60 percent of the team.

The article says he got an MLS soccer stadium built against opposition. Maybe his next trick will be getting a real stadium built in the St. Louis area. His seems to have a habit of getting the improbable done.

Living in Utah I’ve seen what Dave can do… He was President of the Utah Jazz for some time. Yes, Dave did get a MLS stadium built just a few miles away. To this day I’m not sure how he got it done. He threw his weight around a bit, threatened to pull the team from Utah. The city voted the stadium down and then boom the next thing you know trucks were moving dirt… Again not sure how it happened, whether he fronted it or what, but the taxpayers voted the stadium down. In the END I want an owner that WINS! Tha’s ALL that matters…winning Championships!!!

Hey Peter,
Why did they leave in the first place? City would not build them a new stadium? St Louis did? Was it maybe fan support?? Why would any team want to leave the 2nd largest TV market in the Unites States?? To much competition for the venues available?? Raiders, Bruins, Trojans, Rams, Monster Truck Shows…… I hear a guy is building a beautiful new stadium somewhere close to LA…. If he is so interested in getting a football team to LA, then why isn’t his name in the news as a candidate to buy the team. I am wishing Mr. Checketts the best, I hope he can get it done. Me personally, I have been a fan since 65` and I don’t really care where they play…GO RAMS!!!

I have a lot of confidence that Checketts will get this done because Chip and Lucia know Dave and want the team to stay in St. Louis. As far as you California fans go, dream for another team to come your way. The Rams will not be coming. Who would want to go the most taxed and economic depressed place in the USA?? Fan turn out wasn’t good when the Rams left in 1994 and there is no reason to believe it will be any better now and most likely worse. Dream on LA fans dream on, the Rams are here to stay in the Mid West!!!!!!!
