Report suggests FedEx CEO could be bidder for Rams

The St. Louis Business Journal is throwing out the name of Fred Smith, the chairman, president and CEO of FedEX, as a potential bidder for the Rams.

“Fred Smith was, and has been for a long time, intrested in obtaining an NFL franchise,” Dan Dierdorf told the Business Journal. “What makes him attractive in my mind is financially he is more than capable of the transaction. The NFL would not want two teams in Tennessee. But Adams, the (Titans owner) in Nashville would have a fit. Smith, would be a great choice because his hometown would not be a competitor with St. Louis. He could keep the Rams here long term.”

However, Dierdorf told Kathleen Nelson of the Post-Dispatch: “I do not know of any conversations that have taken place between Fred Smith and the Rams.”

So while Smith may certainly fit the profile of a potential bidder, it may be a bit early to define him as a candidate. Smith has declined comment.

Hey, I think Obama wants to buy the Rams. He loves throwing money at stuff. He would raise ticket prices (100 fold), charge an entering and exiting tax for the fans, claim the Rosenbloom’s estate and batabing!, he can run the Rams. That seems credible and would be lots of fun. Plus the president would guarantee any walk-on a job! Maybe we (all the bloggers) could realize our dream of becoming NFL players. Let’s run with this story!

I say sell the Rams to a sucker in LA…then maybe Fred Smith could get awarded an expansion franchise that he would place in St. Louis and play in a privately financed renovation of the Edward Jones Dome with a much better written lease with the city. At least that would be my dream…lol

WOW! Didn’t see this coming. A story about nothing. It’s JULY! Stories in the NFL are hard to find this time of year. Unless you are driving under the influence and killing people, testing positive for the sticky(weed), or urinating on the practice field. Maybe Kroenke can rent out whatever they are calling that place where the Rams play, to professional wrestling or MC Hammer on opening day. Then let the fans decide what they’d rather see. At least you’d have peeps in the seats. If you like nothing, check out my radio program, After Hours. Midnight - 2 a.m. on 590. Yes I said Midnight.

THIS HAS TO BE THE DUMBEST ARTICLE EVER POSTED ON ANY WEBSITE. EVER. REALLY??? DAN DIERDORF SAYS THAT SMITH COULD BE AN OWNER, BUT HE HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY CONVERSATION B/T SMITH AND RAMS….REALLY? THAT’S NEWS…HERE, POST THIS, I THINK WARREN BUFFET WOULD BE GREAT. HE’S FROM OMAHA AND DOESN’T OWN A TEAM, PLUS HE’S GOT TONS OF $!!! HOWEVER, I HAVE NO IDEA IF HE WANTS A TEAM OR IF THE RAMS HAVE SPOKEN WITH HIM….BUT, HE’S A POTENTIAL BUYER!!!!

Omaha will be a good market for the Rams now that the Huskers have fallen apart. I had not heard that Buffet was interested in buying the team. I sure would not go to Omaha to see the Rams play. However I would drive to Memphis every weekend. That’s an awesome town. So lets hope Smith buys the team and moves them there.

I think Dierdorf should step up and buy the team, or spearhead a group of local investors to keep the team here. Otherwise, Dierdorf, shut the he!! up with your rumors.
