Rams trade for WR Ronald Curry
The Rams have added some much-needed experience _ and size _ to their wide receiver corps. League sources told the Post-Dispatch on Wednesday that the team has acquired WR Ronald Curry from the Detroit Lions in a trade for defensive tackle Orien Harris.
Harris’ tenure with the Rams was a short one _ he was acquired from Cincinnati on May 7 in a trade for running back Brian Leonard.
Curry, 30, is 6-2, 210. He caught 19 passes for 191 yards and two TDs last season with Oakland. The Raiders released him in February, and he was signed as a street free agent by the Lions in April.
A seventh-round draft pick by the Raiders out of North Carolina, Curry had spent his previous seven seasons with Oakland. There, he had three seasons of 50-plus catches, including a career-best 62 receptions for a career-high 727 yards in 2006.

Ok Let’s gooooooooooooooooooo Rams!!!!
the rams made a good trade here. honestly, i would take any receiver with experience. I would think he would be our 2nd or 3rd receiver. Please teach avery, burton, stanley, and foster something ronald!!
umm what can he teach them? he hasnt matched averys rookie stats in his whole career…ill take a wait and see approach…id rather have matt jones tho
Yes!!!! Curry was on the rise here in Oakland before the Kiffin era. He just flat out lost focus, got tired of the distractions and the coaching changes which lead to some drops last year. He should have put up much bigger numbers here had there been competent coaching and an offense around him.
curry sucks
He’s got potential, even at his age. He was always under-utilized in Oakland, and they have been pathetic for years, esp with the passing game. Nice pick-up.
I worry about a guy whose team gave up on him (Detroit) after such a short time. I wonder if he hasn’t lost something physically.
He’s never had a QB even as good as Bulger to throw to him so he may have a higher ceiling than what most people are thinking. Oakland has been a zoo the entire time he’s been there.
Avery/Curry doesn’t sound like much of a one-two punch, but I’m hopeful.
I don’t agree about Matt Jones (earlier comment). He was too stupid to figure out the lame offense in Jacksonville. There is no way he’ll be able to figure out the west coast. He looks awesome physically, but he’s just a stupid hillbilly cokehead.
Good move by the Rams a very talented receiver throw him the ball and watch the big plays happen just called my raider buddy he’s first remark was dam i liked him he was good=)
This is not a bad acquisition, there is no risk in adding another receiver with experience and size.Matt Jones does not fall under the 4 pillars of Spagnuolo.
Let me get this straight… the Raiders (5 -11) and the Lions (0-16) didn’t want him so the Rams traded a DT for him even though they could have had him as a street free agent earlier? Yuck
