The St. Louis Rams starters will play some Thursday night in the preseason finale against the Chiefs. But that group likely won’t include quarterback Marc Bulger.

Bulger stepped his rehab Monday, two weeks after breaking the pinky finger on his throwing hand. “Marc threw 25, 30 balls, and he said he felt pretty good,” coach Steve Spagnuolo said. “We’re going to be a little bit over-cautious. We still don’t want to put him under center and take a snap. . . .

“Right now, we’re planning on him not going (Thursday). He’d have to come in here tomorrow begging to play and say that it’s OK. But my guess is that he will not go. And if it changes in the next 48 hours, then we’ll adjust.”

*G Richie Incognito (knee) missed a second day of practice. DE Leonard Little (knee) and FB Mike Karney (ankle) again were limited.

*As he did Sunday, Adam Goldberg manned Incognito’s spot at right guard, with rookie Jason Smith at right tackle with the first unit.

*Jacob Bell took all the first-team snaps at left guard.

*WR Tim Carter had a couple of impressive catches during team drills. Carter hadn’t done much lately, and his stock had fallen a bit.

*Rookie QB Keith Null struggled with his accuracy. On one play, WR Laurent Robinson made a nice adjustment to grab a ball that Null threw behind him.

*Donnie Avery, coming back from a broken foot, was among those returning punts. “He had a little pep in his step,” Spagnuolo said. “He was just happy to be out there.”
