Wear and tear is beginning to show at training camp

The St. Louis Rams are starting to show the first signs of training camp wear and tear. Cornerback Ron Bartell was held out of this afternoon’s practice because he became dehydrated after the full-pads morning workout. The first practice also featured more sessions of 11-on-11 live tackling drills.

Also, defensive end Leonard Little and cornerback Tye Hill left the second practice a few minutes early with cramps.

The Rams again will be in full pads Monday morning and shells in the afternoon.

Notes & quotes:

*QB Marc Bulger looked particularly sharp.

*With Bartell out, Justin King moved up to the first unit at CB.

*It was North Carolina Day at Rams Park: Former Tar Heels WRs Ronald Curry and Brooks Foster made acrobatic catches on consecutive plays.

*TE Randy McMichael was dazed briefly after falling awkwardly on an incomplete pass in the end zone, but he returned to the field.

*WR Keenan Burton, a competitor for a first-team job, made a couple of tough catches.

*RB Kenneth Darby appears to be the clear-cut leader in the competition for the backup role behind Steven Jackson.

*Rookie CB Bradley Fletcher is having a strong camp on the heels of an impressive spring.

*At 3:56 p.m. Sunday, LT Alex Barron false-started for the first time during camp.

All for now . . .

Great! Barron is already false starting! Here we go again!!! I heard he smokes pot with people who work at the Mickey D’s across the street. Im just sayin’, maybe that explains his lack of focus?

Looks like a few guys came into camp a bit out of shape.

It looks like Barron is already in mid season form.

They said cramps not hamstrings. Cramps is a sign of dehydration not being out of shape.

I think the Barron comment was made with a smile.

Just to clarify: I left practice, because of brain, not body, cramps. You see, I have completely forgotten how to play football.

I went to Chicago to see the rams play the bears and that was back when marshall was at the end of his career, I left there a BEARS fan. The fans there are so passionate about their team, here there is to much corporation, half the people in the stands do not know a thing about football, hopefully the Rams today can bring me back because I really do hate all the other chicago teams, but the BEARS seam to play the football that I like to watch, not to mention they play out doors on GRASS, REAL GRASS, which I believe is the only way to watch a foot ballgame. If all the pansies at the dome can’t handle the rain or the cold they shouldn’t be at the game anyway. PS. Ty , let me tell you, I was happy when the rams drafted you and can not wait until you live up to the hype because I know all the skills are there, but now is the time. Barron, PAY ATTENTION!!!!

-Bearsfan,

How could you even call yourself a Rams fan if you went to ONE game when we played the bears and just decided to switch which team you love? I am and ALWAYS will be Rams fan, no matter what, no matter if we go 0-16 forever and I’m the only one in the seats.

At $1.2 Million base salary for this year, all Barron has to do is the normal 100 false starts per year and it will cost the team a mere $12,000 per false start. Now how bad is that?

Barron at LT against the league’s top pass rushers? Bulger- ’twas nice to know you.

Intelligence rating-
Smart, Not so Smart….., Alex Barron.

Just get ride of the whole team and start new with Bulger and Jackson. I don’t even like watching the Rams anymore. The whole team seems to be filled with Crappy guys who want to be thugs and make money. Football comes third… I will watch again when Kurt, Bruce, Holt, Prohel, Fletcher, DeMarco, Wilson, Jones all come back… JokeN of course… Just would like to watch some guys with some actual character.
