WR Burton makes it clear: he wants to start

In public, young players often play down their desire to be in the starting lineup. You hear, “Whatever they want me to do, that’s fine with me,” or something to that effect.

Refreshingly, second-year St. Louis Rams wideout Keenan Burton makes it crystal clear that he wants to line up opposite Donnie Avery come opening day. “That’s definitely my goal,” Burton said. “You always want to be the one that starts the game.”

Burton will face plenty of competition for the job, most notably from Laurent Robinson. That’s OK with Burton. “Competition brings the best out of you,” he said. “You can’t do anything but come out here and compete and try to win a job.”

Burton and the rest of the Rams will hit the fields at Rams Park in a few minutes. They’ll be in full pads for the first time for a workout that’s scheduled to last at least two hours.

A second practice is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Both sessions are open to the public. Admission and parking is free.

All for now . . . more after the morning practice.

It’s good to see that drive….In all honesty though, it’s Burton’s job to lose at this point.

I like to see someone that wants to compete and win the job. It kills teams when people feel they should be handed jobs and not have to go out there and compete to earn it.

I have faith that Burton will wrap this one up and come into his own this year and you will see two young recievers take the NFL by storm and make names for themselves!

Hey Burton…stop dropping the ball..running the right routes..and stop hurting yourself..Then you might think about starting.
Do it..then talk later

I like to see him wanting to lead, he’s right competition does bring the best out of you, makes it sure than your not on some easy ride have the job will just be handed to you. I think Burton has the talent and leadership to start opposite end of Avery, I just hope this happens I really want to see him start, and stay healthy.

Atlanta fan here been checking up on Laurent Robinson- any news on him? He really had everything to be a top WR in the league but just had the injuries.
