For the first time since the start of the regular season, a Tuesday came and went at Rams Park without the team adding anyone to the 53-man roster. However, the Rams did add linebacker Lamar Myles and nose tackle Adrian Grady to the practice squad.

Both played their college ball at Louisville, with Myles spending part of last season on Jacksonville’s practice squad and Grady spending time on New England’s practice squad earlier this season.

To make room for them on the practice squad, defensive tackle Marlon Favorite and linebacker Justin Roland were released,

Myles and Grady visited Rams Park on Tuesday. So did wide receiver Logan Payne, who was with the Seattle Seahawks in 2007 and ’08, first on the practice squad, and then on the active roster.

Not much help here…what part of needing offensive players do they not understand?

Hopefully Spags can get these guys up to speed by Sunday so that they’ll be ready to commit untimely penalties and make mental mistakes. The ‘09 Rams are a giant practice squad, except for a couple guys.

I love the brillant comments that these guys are no help, like they have Randy Moss or Adrian Peterson to choose from, but decided on these guys instead. I think we need to get beyond the point of wondering why we don’t win week to week and look at the big picture like our new coach and GM are. I think we see a coach trying to audition young players to fill our roster depth for years to come. Let us not forget his years in New York when they lost Osi and other DE and DT, yet had great replacements that allowed them to move on. Devaney clearly laid out his plan at the start of Free Agency in March that he was looking for ascending players and depth, not Amani Toomer or Marvin Harrison that will NOT RESULT in any more wins than we have now.

Cleveland just traded Braylon Edwards. Just the playmaker the Rams need. Why were they not at the front of the line to acquire him. Bring some life to this BORING team.

Hi. My name is the PRACTICE SQUAD. My inhabitants are usually castoffs from other teams and street free agents who are there to help fill out the scout teams, and have raw potential that is worth an extended look. Please do not mistake me for more than I am. Thank you.

I also saw that Braylon Edwards was traded- Jets gave up 4 players/picks. That is quite a bit for a player that doesn’t fit the “pillars” and drops the ball.

Draft picks are like gold for the rebuilding effort- need to acquire as many as possible. I would like to see the Rams become active before the trade deadline acquiring as many picks as possible. I would even listen to offers for SJAX.

Adding Braylon Edwards to this club would be a big mistake, especially giving up what the Jets gave. What part of Practice Squad don’t some of you understand? It amazes me that some want to pick up any player who has a recognizable name. This team needs a rebuild. So far, so good. Laurinitas, Smith, Brown, Butler, Robinson are all good additions. There is still a long way to go, but progress is being made. I’m believing next year will be better. At the very least, a franshise QB will be in place next year. Patience.

It is just VERY obvious that Devaney is in over his head. YES, i know we are only ”4 games into the season” … I understand that, most do. However, Devaney has had significant input on this roster starting with the 08 draft (look back at how he gushed about Avery after drafting him). Need more proff? He recently referred to Chris Long’s play as currently being at a ”Pro-Bowl” level. Pro-Bowl? Since the AFL/NFL merger, Has a DE EVER made the Pro-Bowl without registering 1 sack in a season? If so, it would have been for high tackle volumes and great work against the run. Long is not terrible, just mis-cast … as was EVIDENT when they drafted him. He would be better suited losing weight and playing OLB in a 4-3. And even then, he would not be worthy of the #2 pick … that is just ONE example of Devaney’s input on personnel miscues.

We will look back at Devany’s time with the Rams as one that set their talent level back (see Jacob Bell, Chris Long, Donnie Avery, etc.) at a VERY high price in both dollars and draft picks.

We finally have the role of GM like most other NFL teams … I now look forward to having one that can make a positive difference.
