At least 20,000 empty seats to greet Rams and Jags
If you think the St. Louis Rams have been struggling to sell out games at the Edward Jones Dome, pity the poor Jacksonville Jaguars. On Sunday when the winless Rams visit, at least 20,000 of the 66,000 seats at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium are expected to be empty.
The Jags’ first two home games were against defending division champs Arizona and Tennessee. Just 46,520 showed up Sept. 9 for the home opener vs. the Cardinals; 49,104 watched the Jags knock off the Titans. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged last month the possibility that the Jaguars might not sell out any of their eight home games this season.
Notes & quotes:
*Coach Steve Spagnuolo said that veteran Adam Goldberg would get his third start in a row at RT but that rookie Jason Smith also would be worked in. Smith has been out with a knee injury since late in the first half of the Week 2 game at Washington.
*Rookie Bradley Fletcher will make his second successive start at CB in the spot previously held by Jonathan Wade.
*With DT Gary Gibson (ankle) out for the season, LaJuan Ramsey is expected to start alongside Clifton Ryan.
*Despite the cool weather and occasional drizzle, the Rams practiced outside Friday.
*DEs Leonard Little and C.J. Ah You missed practice because of illness. Spagnuolo said he expected them to ready by Sunday.
*The week’s final injury report listed S James Butler (knee) and WR Ruvell Martin (hamstring) as doubtful; S Anthony Smith (Achilles’ tendon) as questionable; and QB Kyle Boller (concussion) as probable.
All for now . . .

Bradley Fletcher stinks. He’s been torched during pre-season and the regular season. He does not deserve to be starting.
We’ve got no other choice. I’ve been far less impressed with Jonathan. Especially since he’s a 2nd year guy.
Bill….there must be reasons why they can’t sell tickets in Jax. Bad ownership (couldn’t resist) economy, league luster worn off, lousy uniform colors. Any insight?
Wow, the first weekend after the NFL and the upper brass lynch’s Rush, the first Rams game has 20,000 no shows on the road? Too many coincidences for me considering DTV had hundreds cancel their NFL Sunday Ticket. I did. As a conservative, non racist why should I support something that I’m not a allowed to be part of?
Chuck - you honestly think the lackluster ticket sales in Jacksonville have anything to do with Rush Limbaugh? Please. That’s crazy talk. Rush is out. Get over it.
Fletcher starting again?
is this how we reward poor play from previous weeks- with another start
give me a break!
Chuck, get a clue. JAX has had ticket issues for ages. Maybe they can’t sell out the game because the Jags got waxed last weekend and are playing the 0-5 Rams. In your world you likely care about Rush. In the rest of America we are rejoicing and don’t care about Rush.
GoRams2001, Car - This goes way beyond Rush, ticket sales (just making a point), the libel lawsuit he’s got under way, players “saying” they don’t want to play for Rush, the media lies (still checking sources??? Guess you shoot then ask questions later in journalism today), Checketts canning Rush, etc., etc., and all the lame news. This is about the NFL owners getting muscled by the White House under Rev. Jackson and Sharpton. The NFL will go by way of the Banks, the auto-industry - GM and Chrysler. DeMaurice Smith was selected as NFLPA executive director, replacing the late Gene Upshaw. Smith, former staffer of Attorney General Eric Holder who has no previous NFL experience, has threatened to bring the Obama White House into the upcoming bargaining agreement. Black leaders pressured the NFLPA (and therefore its leader, Smith) in using Rush as “leverage in negotiations” with the NFL owners on the upcoming collective bargaining.
This is nothing to rejoice about, Mr. Car Ramrod. This is another power grab of a great American tradition.
uh, Chuck … you can’t cancel your Direct TV football package once ordered
jkn - Done. I don’t have to pay the rest the next three payments. I lose out on the $99 Supercast. So what. Interestingly the young lady at DTV said, what’s going on? We’ve been getting these calls all day… I said, “It’s America waking up a little.” It’s done. Gone. Cancelled. I know what’s on my screen. No 700 channels.
