Bulger: Rams must achieve perfection to upset Colts
What will it take for the winless St. Louis Rams to upend the undefeated Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome? Perfection, according to quarterback Marc Bulger.
“We can’t make mistakes, we can’t turn the ball over, we can’t commit penalties,” he said Wednesday. “We know how good they are and we understand the game it’s going to take to beat them. It’s going to take a perfect game.”
Notes & quotes:
*WR Donnie Avery (hip), DE James Hall (groin) and DT Darell Scott (illness) didn’t practice Wednesday. G Richie Incognito (ankle), CB Justin King (groin) and WR Ruvell Martin (hamstring) were limited.
*CB Ron Bartell was cleared after suffering a mild concussion in the overtime period Sunday at Jacksonville and was a full participant at practice. So was S James Butler, who has missed three games with a knee injury. Butler is expected to start Sunday.
*While Adam Goldberg took most of the first-team snaps at RT, rookie Jason Smith got in extended work at LT with the scout team.
*Newcomers Brandon Gibson and Phil Trautwein were on the practice fields. Gibson, a rookie WR, was obtained from the Eagles on Tuesday for LB Will Witherspoon and a fifth-round pick in the 2010 draft. Trautwein, a rookie T, was signed off the Browns’ practice squad. Trautwein was one of the Rams’ last preseason cuts.
*This week’s captains are G Jacob Bell (offense), DE Chris Long (defense) and DE C.J. Ah You (special teams).
All for now…

Bulger, even a perfect game from you guys won’t be enough to beat the Colts. The talent levels just don’t match up in all categories. If the Rams win this weekend it will be in the same rank as David beating Goliath, that how much you guys will have to achieve in order to win. I’m still a fan regardless. Go Rams!
Collosal upset! Bring it to them Rams! Make a believer out of me! Any given Sunday, right! All right, I’m getting dizzy. ~ “It’s never to late to become what you once might have been” author unkown.
Spags and company shouldn’t even gameplan this week. The Rams have ZERO chance of winning this game. They will be extremely lucky if the Colts don’t win 50-6.. and giving the Rams 6 is very generous.
RAMS WILL WIN THIS WEEK. THEY WILL COME OUT JACKED UP, I BELIEVE THIS WILL BE THE TURN AROUND WEEK. THEY HAVE FIGHT!
Listen Rams fans, back in 1992 the Rams posted a 6-10 losing record, however, on Nov 15th, 1992, week 11 they traveled to Texas and defeated Emmitt Smith and the Cowboys 27-23. Dallas went on to post a 13-3 record as well as demolish the Bills with a 52-17 Superbowl victory. My point is simple…… “Any given Sunday!”…… “our father who art in heaven, hollowed be thy GAME”…. what?…it’s ok to pray!.. Warner prayed!
Lets go Rams.. Lets show the world this sunday what we can do.. Or at least make it a game like last sunday.. Lets Get It!!!!
Marc, you guys can’t have a perfect game if you are QB. Last week we saw your PEAK performance. That is as good as you can play. The peak of your performance, which is not nearly enough. I predict the Rams will have less than 200 yards of total offense by the end of the 3rd quarter. Indy will have 400. Rams may get a bunch in the 4th, since the Indy defense will be playing soft….so the slop yards by Bulger will inflate his stats.
Just look….less than 200 after 3 quarters, and Indy will be up 28-6.
Rams fans ……. I know the Bible says not to put the Lord to the test, however, I believe that God wants to perform miracles, he loves it! I am calling for a group prayer 1 minute before kickoff. It is my belief that if there are enough voices heard that maybe, just maybe, we will be victorious!
In the meantime former Rams star Kurt Warner continues to set two new NFL passing records with the Cardinals already this season. Best completion ratio a few weeks ago against the Jaguars and now the the fastest to reach 30,000 yards passing by picking apart the Seahawks on Sunday.
What is the Rams record since discarding Warner?
