Limbaugh speaks on Rams involvement
Rush Limbaugh used the opening 15 minutes of his radio show Thursday to explain his involvement and removal from a group planning to buy the Rams.
His conclusion was that his removal from the group with Dave Checketts as its front man showed “Obama’s America on full display.”
Limbaugh said Checketts opened discussions about Limbaugh’s inclusion in the group in late May or early June.
“I said, ‘Are you aware of the firestorm?’ ” Limbaugh said. “(Checketts) said, ‘I wouldn’t have approached you if I hadn’t taken care of that, if I hadn’t cleared your involvement with people at the highest level of the National Football League.’”
Limbaugh said he heard from Checketts on Tuesday that he would have to be removed. Limbaugh suggested that National Football League Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith was behind the removal and was using Limbaugh “as leverage in the upcoming negotiations with the league for a new collective bargaining agreement. Mr. Smith has let it be known that he’ll bring the White House into this.
“So Obama’s America could include the National Football League.”
Limbaugh emphasized that he didn’t bow out gracefully.
“If you want me out, you fire me,” he said he told Checketts.

The Associated Press also reported that Limbaugh said his sacking was an example of the political clout wielded by the Obama administration.
“What is happening to the National Football League, what is about to happen to it, has already happened to Wall Street, has already happened to the automobile business,” Limbaugh said.
Limbaugh said he was victimized in the media by “misreporting, lying, repeating the lies while also saying ‘Limbaugh denies,’ repeating the made-up quotes, the blind hatred.
“Believe me, the hatred that exists in this is found in the sportswriter community, it’s found in the news business, it’s found in the race hustler business.”

This has nothing to do with “Obama’s America.” This has to do with a known racist who is simply too polarizing to be an owner of an NFL team.
I’m sure plenty of the other NFL owners are just as racist as Limbaugh, they just don’t run their mouths about it all the time.
These remarks from Limbaugh show his typical arrogance. His removal from the ownership group has more to do with his long 20 year career of divisive politics and commentary than it does anything to do with ‘Obama’s America,’ a man who he had never heard of before 2004. I guarantee that if Limbaugh tried to purchase part of the team during ‘Bush’s America’ the exact same result (public outcry) would have occurred.
The facts are that Limbaugh caters to a specific segment of Americans, and football is a business that is trying to be as inclusive as possible. The two just don’t match.
The last thing the NFL needs is to be on pins and needles 3 hours a day while Limbaugh spews more ‘Magic Negro’ songs and division across 600 radio stations daily. The NFL is in the business to make money & provide an entertaining product. It is not in the business of public relations damage control.
How should this be surprising to anyone? Rush is just like many others ie Matt Holliday who refuse to take blame for mistakes they have made.
What does the President of the United States of America have to do with this?
Nothing. Tells you all you need to know about Limbaugh. He should take responsibility for himself and stop blaming others for his carefully-cultivated persona of beligerence.
This is business, and he was a liability. Simple as that.
Do we really need to repeat what Rush said on his show? More publicity for a man that stirs up piles of pub in everything he does.
If Rush wanted to be a NFL owner, he should court the NFL, the Players Association, play nice, and do what the league required. He could have issued an apology for past insensite comments, could have redirected previous remarks in an intelligent (OK, never mind…).
But he hit his first speed bump and started pointing fingers.
EXACTLY what the Rams DO NOT NEED right now.
Rush, stick to what you do best, whatever you call it…
No surprise the NFL won’t give you another podium to stir up trouble.
Kathleen: you drew the short straw and had to listen to Rush this morning.
Good for you… you just might learn something.
Likely not… but still.
Since every one of the quotes attributed to Rush were made up (that’s 100% Seals)it would be very interesting to see Rush spend every last cent he was going to put into the Rams to sue outlets like ESPN and the Post.
I found it had that Mr.Checketts was so naive to belive that including Mr.Limbaugh into the possible ownership group would not had set off the firestorm of controversy that it did.A well respected man,Mr.Checketts made a big blunder and done lots of damage to his creditbility.
Rush would have been a positive force for the Rams. The Rams and Rams fans are the real losers.
St. Louis will continue to lose…and maybe lose their team. But good news! Rush Limbaugh will be defeated and political correctness will triumph again! Congratulations, St. Louis.
Suppress the free market to expand political agenda. Hope and change we can believe in!
Again, congratulations to all!
Decisiveness not needed in the NFL? someone who murders a person while DUI and later receives another DUI, someone who is cruel to animals, …none of this is decisive? I find it obscene they are allowed to play in the NFL!! I’ve wanted the Rams to stay in STL but I now hope Rush is able to put is money into some other owners pocket and have them move away….St Louis will show him and everyone else by golly.
