Torry Holt surprised at Rams 0-5 start

As might be expected, Jacksonville wide receiver Torry Holt still follows his old team. And yes, he’s as suprised as anyone that the Rams are winless five games into the 2009 season.

“With some of the reports I was reading, and speaking to a couple of the (Rams) throughout the course of OTAs and training camp _ the energy, the vibe, the positive message that (Steve) Spagnuolo has brought to the team, I know they thought they wouldn’t be 0-5,” Holt said Wednesday on a conference call with St. Louis reporters.

“Just listening to those guys and reading some of the reports, I didn’t expect them to be 0-5. But they’ve got an opportunity to get out of it, come down here playing against us. I’m pretty sure they’re looking to come here to get a win. Hopefully, we can hold them off and keep them winless.”

Holt signed with Jacksonville as a free agent last April, five weeks after his release in St. Louis. The Rams (0-5) play at Jacksonville (2-3) Sunday in a noon kickoff (St. Louis time).

As was for the Rams’ current receiver corps, Holt said: “Some of the guys you all have there now, I don’t even know where they came from. . . .I don’t even recognize half of those guys.”

Where was the loyalty to Holt? He left a lousy team after being released, and Rams management brought in far worse receivers. If I were him, I would rather be 2-3 than 0-5 any day.

I was just surprised by his comments of keeping us winless.

I agree big red. Also, he is on a new team now. What is he suppossed to say? “I hope we have a terrible game and the Rams leave here with a win.” I think not. We miss you Torry. My favorite Ram ever.

I will treat this like when my friend played for Mizzou Basketball and I had to root against him because I’m an Illini fan.

I hope Torry has a good game but I hope we come out with a win. I will always wish him well but we need this win.

Why should anyone be surprised at the Rams not winning? They are a terrible team with terrible owners who do their upmost to ruin a once great franchise. You have to spend money in order to make money and have a winning team, something that this Rams organization has not done since the death of Georgia.

Great decision making on kicking Limbaugh to the curb, because that is going to save this team and keep it in STL. No one wants this team if they can’t win a single game. Someone needs to get their head out of their butt and start turning this team into a winning team, otherwise not only are we going to lose every game, but we are going to lose the team period! Hasn’t STL suffered enough losses the last few years economically? Do we really need this team to tank to the point of it being sold to a market where they want the team?

I have been a die hard Rams fan since Vince Ferragamo was their quarterback in L.A, so it pains me to see what the owners have done to this team the last several years. We are a joke in the NFL, both with the play of the Rams and the controversy surrounding the Limbaugh involvement. I am disgusted with EVERYTHING regarding the Rams. The players needn’t be dictating who owns the team either, as they cannot even get themselves together as a TEAM to win a single game. Pretty bad when even the 49ers beat you soundly!

Sorry Old Goat, but what kind of a player would Holt be if he wanted us to win when his job is with another team?
Isn’t that the job of a player for the opposing team, is to make sure that they do not win? Like bigredfran said, there was not one bit of loyalty to Holt, so why would he be loyal to a team when he isn’t on their payroll anymore?

Never have I hated the Rams, but this b.s with Limbaugh AND their inability to win a single game is making this once big supporter depise them and their continually poor choices in coaches, quaterbacks, ownership (or lack of)and loyalty to the fans of STL!.

Let the Rams leave! StLouis fans still think a mullett and buck teeth are in fashion! The only reason they sell-out a stadium is because their opponents buy in droves and are more intense fans!!
