Steven Jackson makes his peace with Linehan

During the usual postgame mingling with the opposing team, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson made sure he found Scott Linehan last Sunday at Ford Field.

“I just wished Coach Linehan the best in his future,” Jackson said. “I just wanted to let him know that I really had no gripes. I really don’t dislike him. He did wonders for me during the holdout.

“A lot of people don’t know, when we were at a stalemate in conversation in the holdout, Coach Linehan is the person that really broke the ice. And I wanted to personally thank him and just let him know that I wish him the best in whatever he does.”

Now the offensive coordinator in Detroit, Linehan was fired 13 months ago in St. Louis four games into his third season as Rams head coach. Jackson, who had been critical of Linehan’s benching of quarterback Marc Bulger last season, missed training camp and the preseason in ‘08 because of a contract holdout.

You have to feel for a class act who is giving 110% and watch a qb slide in to second base a yard short!
I used to be a Bulger supporter, years back..I admit it!! Our local high school QB has ten times more guts than you know who ( I can’t even say his name)and he can also find an open receiver

Did anyone see the part where Linehan ripped his face off and it was actually Dan O’Neill? No wonder we made such idiotic decisions the past three years.

Thanks Linehan for ruining a perfectly good team. You had Archuleta, Bruce, Wilkins, Holt, Jackson, Pace, Little, Hedgecock and countless others and you still couldnt win. Sheesh.
I still like Bulger, but he needs talent around him to succeed just like any other QB. That being said, he hasnt really stepped up and thrown alot of TDs has he?
Lets draft Jake Locker or Sam Bradford in Round 1 or wait until the 2nd Round. Not alot of differences in QBs in 2010… I want the guy with the cool name… Suh is it?

A couple of years ago, some of the things Jackson would blurt out to the media made me raise an eyebrow or 2. He was frankly a little brash, arrogant (or so I thought). But he has really come along - his maturation is clear. I just hope the Rams can get things turned around sooner rather than later, so he can get the spotlight on him in the way that a back with his abilities deserves. (This is a bit of an overstatement but…) It would be like Pujols playing for the Cards in the late 80’s / early 90’s, a guy like Jackson deserves to be on a winner.

Kudos to SJ39 for making peace with Linehan. He’s a better man than me. I still have gripes about Linehan and I still dislike him. Even though our record stinks this year, I have faith in Spags and Devaney to take a step forward next year.

No wonder Jackson likes Linehan. He helped him out with that OBNOXIOUS holdout!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the leadership and production from 39 this year, but that holdout was ridiculous. Him not being up to speed at the beginning of the year certainly didn’t do the Rams any favors. Wonder if Linehan is smart enough to figure out that Jackson’s holdout helped get him fired?
Or maybe ol Scotty’s getting a piece of that money under the table…

Our O-line is really starting to come together and it was good to see Setterstrom in there the other day, he gives us really nice depth. Halfway through the season looking at what Devaney and Spags have done, You’ve got to give them all the credit for Jason Brown, Laurent Robinson, James Laurinitis, Jason Smith, James Butler, and Bradley Fletcher, all of whom have played very well and will be pieces of the puzzle for ‘10 and beyond. I’ll be looking at guys like Brandon Gibson, Jonathan Wade, David Vobora, CJ Ah You, and Justin King to make plays in the second half and hopefully fill some more holes. The one thing that has been very disappointing is the inconsistent lack of a pass rush. Leonard’s playing well but Long and Hall just aren’t getting their enough even though we’ve done a decent job against the run. Hopefully they can hit Brees, Warner, and Schaub coming up here soon, we really need the pass rush.

This season SJ has been a man all the way. He deserves respect. Its shows toughness & good character to play hard on a crappy team like this one.
Until now I wasnt sure he had it in him. The Linehan thing was a good gesture.

Steven Jackson was way underpaid. How could his holdout be OBNOXIOUS? This is a business first and formost. NFL= NOT FOR LONG.

Give Bulger a break. He is gone after this year, and has taken his beating over time. We won the game. Maybe everyone can just move on.
