Yes, dropped passes a problem for Rams receivers
As might be expected with a young and relatively inexperienced wide receiver corps, the Rams are among the league leaders in dropped passes midway through the 2009 season.
According to STATS LLC, Rams receivers have dropped 18 passes this season, which ties them (with three other teams) for the third-highest number of drops this season. Even when you factor in so-called “catchable” balls, the Rams are still among the NFL’s worst in terms of dropped passes.
The latest STATS LLC figures show that 11 percent of the Rams’ catchable passes have been dropped, which is the seventh-worst figure in the league. Cleveland’s receivers have dropped a league-worst 17.6 percent of their passes; Houston is the league’s best at 3.6 percent.
Obviously, what constitutes a drop and a catchable pass can be subjective. But the numbers still underscore one of the problems with the St. Louis passing game. In a breakdown per Rams quarterback, Kyle Boller actually gets the worst of it with 12.5 percent of his catchable passes dropped (seven of 56), compared to Marc Bulger’s 10.4 percent (11 of 106).
* Rams healthy
Once again, RG Richie Incognito (foot) was the only Rams player to miss practice. DE C.J. Ah You (ankle) was officially listed as limited on the team’s Thursday’s injury report, but continues to get a lot of work in practice. LG Jacob Bell (thumb) was full participation.

That’s OK..Just blame it on Bulger.
i’ma thinkin that gipson guy we got from Philly better be able to do more than get open, he better be able to catch it too! i’ma also thinkin i sure would like to see gipson play some and actually have some passes thrown his way to see what his drop to catch ratio is. i’ma also thinkin with Carter being cut (it was Carter wasn’t it?)our drop to catch ratio should improve over the rest of the year.
Ono a totally different subject, from what i have been reading on the net it seems like the Eric Berry kid is the best player in the draft period. He sounds like a combo of Ed Reed and Bob Sanders. instant pro bowl differance maker. here’s hoping the Rams’s draft him. if they go linebacker the kid that plays inside backer for Alabama looks like the best backer in the draft. and if we go QB i hope it’s Jake Locker. I’m really not comfortable with any other QB in this draft. Oh well those are my thoughts.
Go Ram’s
what a suprise. everyone said we had the worst receiving corps in the league and it looks like that is the case. i really thought tim carter and ronald curry were going to be able to carry this team, too bad they are terrible. and too bad donnie avery is made of glass. but hey, we got danny amendola as our #1 WR.
I don’t know why they are bothering tracking how often the ball gets dropped. When are people going to realize that the reason that we don’t win is because our QB is the problem. The fact that I, I mean they, drop passes in the red zone killing drives or dropping 3rd down passes is a useless statistic. It is all the QB.
This statistic is skewed by the fact that we only throw three passes per game. If we threw more often we’d be the leader of the losers.
Do the stats include on our Ends as receivers Jimmy. What about Mc’Drop the veteran ?
Spagnuolo’s decision to stick with bulger shows how inept he really is and the team is also 1-6!!!!! We need Mangini in here!
I hate Spags, Spags is as energetic as a brick wall. Remember how Bilichek lost games at the bucs and he was called horrible? 3 Superbowls later……….Jokes on them We need his tree in STl
Put Brendan Ryan out there and he’ll show ‘em how it’s done!!!
I think all five recievers should be active and play. I want to see what Gibson and Martin can do. Especially Martin in the red zone with his 6′4″ size…
