Packers 33, Rams 14

There were no surprises at the Edward Jones Dome Sunday afternoon.

Packers quarterback Brett Favre continued his assault on the NFL record book and his quest of the MVP award.

The Rams continued their season-long pattern of crumbling during the second half. Once again failed to build on a solid first-half performance —  even with Steven  Jackson plowing for 143 yards.

So Green Bay pulled away to a 33-14 victory to clinch a first-round playoff bye. Along the way, Favre became the league’s all-time career passing yards leader in the process, passing Dan Marino.

Plenty of Green Bay fans ventured south through the snow to enjoy the record-setting show.

Rams safety O.J. Atogwe picked off two of Favre’s deep throws up the right sideline, but Brett kept firing away. As for the Rams offense . . . well, it just stopped firing altogether Packers forced Marc Bulger into catch-up mode.

So the Rams fell to 3-11 in this forgettable season with two losses, er, games left on their schedule.

Many things went wrong for them, as usual. Breakdowns in the kicking game gave the Packers a lot of short fields. Penalty after penalty hurt the Rams on both sides of the ball.

Bulger suffered two interceptions on passes off the hands of his receivers. And, yes, he took some monstrous hits as well.

Aside from Jackson’s Pro Bowl-caliber performance, there weren’t many positives for the Rams. Which is pretty much what everybody expected.

They (our Rams) scored only three less points in the second half than predicted. They didn’t even give up a safety. Go Steelers!

steven jackson played winning football. so did bruce and holt.

bulger was bulger. his pass that went right through drew bennett’s hands for a green bay interception was a HUGE momentum shifter which could have cost us the game. other than that, he (bennett) made some very good catches.

wilkinson’s missed field goals this year have also been devastating due to horrific play calling and pitiful execution (choking?)and a general look of defeat,(etched in the faces of Mark Bulger AND Scott Linnehan),which has characterized the play of this team in the red zone.

and the fix is simple. front office hires new coaches who will focus on rebuilding the offensive AND defensive lines of the Rams.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I rooting for the Packers to go all the way and praying that somehow the Ram’s organization will undergo MAJOR changes in the immediate future. Perhaps Georgia is working on that…

OUR INTERIOR LINEMEN MUST BE ABLE TO WIN THE 4TH QUARTER SHOVING CONTESTS AGAINST 80 PERCENT OF OUR OPPONENTS OR ELSE WE’VE GOT NOTHING. THAT’S RIGHT NOTHING. NOTHING.

THEN, OUR QB MUST BE ABLE TO WILL OUR OFFENSE FORWARD INTO THE ENDZONE AT LEAST 60% OF THE TIME WE REACH THE RED ZONE.

IT IS SO GREAT TO SEE BULGER REGAIN HIS FORM AND OVERCOME THE EFFECT OF THE BATTERING HE HAS TAKEN…..PERHAPS ANOTHER TEAM WILL NOW MAKE US AN OFFER WE CAN’T REFUSE. PLEASE LORD.
