Halftime: Dayton 34, SLU 25
It looked for a while there like SLU was going to do its all-too-uncommon fade at the end of the first half and dig itself into a big hole at the break, but Danny Brown’s 3 with about a minute left bailed them out. They could have made it closer if not for Luke Meyer getting called for an illegal screen with 4.6 seconds left.
Amazingly, each team was called for just two fouls in the first half. (SLU’s were both on Luke Meyer.) There were a total of two free throws, both after made baskets.
SLU’s using a box and one, with Polk or Brown shadowing Brian Roberts, who has just three points and has taken just two shots. But once again, other guys are making baskets for Dayton: Mickey Perry, who is averaging 2.6 per game, has nine; Marcus Johnson has 8 and Andres Sandoval has 7, already over his season average. I don’t have a shot chart, but Dayton is getting a lot of stuff inside as they split the gaps. They also hit 6 of 12 3’s.
Lisch and Liddell have 8 for SLU, and Brown has five. SLU has seven turnovers to Dayton’s two. If those kind of numbers and the lack of fouls keep up, this game will be over in 1:45.
SLU will have the ball to start the second half.

Hats off to Danny Brown. What a game to go out.
