Thorpe headed to Wisconsin-Green Bay
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Assistant coach Angres Thorpe is leaving to take a job as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay. This isn’t a surprise. Thorpe was the one holdover from Brad Soderberg’s staff, who was initially kept around to make sure the players were going to class and study hall and things like that during the transition period. With that transition complete, it seemed obvious to me he would be moving on after this season.

I wish Coach Thorpe well. As you said, this was more or less written a year ago.
Is Corey Frazier on the radar screen as a potential assistant coach at the college level? No. 32 has done a fine job turning around Maplewood. Granted he has a stud in Allen, but he has gotten my attention as a fine coach. Next year, some school may take a flyer on him hoping he brings Allen with him. I heard Corey on the radio last month, and he still refers to the Billikens as “us”. You never know.
I’m not sure whether it matters to Majerus whether he has a former Billiken on staff, so that would be only a small help for Frazier. Two very likely candidates are already on the staff: DBO Sean Harrington and graduate student manager Alex Jensen. Harrington’s pretty basketball savvy, and Majerus put Jensen on the staff to help him become a coach someday. There is a benefit to having Harrington be the DBO for a second season, to put to work the lessons he learned in his first season to good use. (Unless the schedule gets changed for some reason, SLU is supposed to be playing at St. Bonaventure next season. I have a really bad feeling about that trip.) If you promoted Jensen, you could tell Harrington he’s next in line since there’s a decent chance that Moser or Biancardi get a head coaching job at some point.
