Marcie Boyer, who has been SLU’s field hockey coach since 2006, is leaving the school to return home to Pennsylvania. Boyer has been working on a graduate degree in education and, now that she has it completed, is going back to where she grew up to be an elementary school teacher. (Which might say a lot about how much SLU pays its field hockey coach.)

SLU was 4-13 this season, 0-6 in A-10 play. In her first season, SLU went 7-9, the best mark ever for a SLU field hockey team since 1991.

7-9 was the best record ever? That’s sad. I thought they were good/competitive back in the 70s and 80s.

I’ve amended the above to say it was their best record since 1991. Sometimes I type too fast … or think too slow. In any case, it’s been a long time.
