SLU basketball matches defensive record against UMSL
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Amid the hubbub of opening night, SLU matched a record that went unnoticed on Friday night. The 33 points scored by UMSL ties the school mark for fewest points allowed in the shot clock era. In Brad Soderberg’s second season, SLU defeated Savannah State 73-33. To find a game where SLU allowed fewer points, you have to go back to Dec. 19, 1960, John Bennington’s third season as coach, when SLU beat San Jose State 52-26. Two weeks before that, SLU beat UC Davis 76-24.
Hat tip to Chuck.
