PHILADELPHIA — SLU guard Kwamain Mitchell has a concussion, but beyond that, not much is known. He collided with Paul Eckerle chasing a loose ball with about 2 1/2 minutes to go in the game. Eckerle was fine, but Mitchell went down. He never lost consciousness but he was on the court for about seven minutes getting medical attention. He was wheeled off the court on a stretcher and after being examined at the arena, he was taken to a hospital. SLU was supposed to fly home on a charter after the game, but they needed to see if it was safe for Mitchell to fly. Even 10 minutes after the game, when he was being wheeled out of the building, he looked groggy.

I don’t know if I’ll get an update tonight. If I do, I’ll post it, but I don’t expect to hear anything until Friday.

Now we’re going to learn what these guys are really made off. I am assuming Mitchell will be out for at least one game depending on the seriousness of the concussion, so Cassity and Eckerle are going to have to step up and fill in with good production from Tommie and Kevin. If they don’t SLU will lose. It’s not the first time they’ve been short guards this year though. Of course, that was when Cotto was still there.

Actually, rockchalk, the Bills had a game in which they had no guard subs: Cotto had left, and both Eckerle and Cassity were held out because of minor injuries.

I sure hope Mitchell will be okay.

Tom
Really getting frustrated with the road warriors. I know this is a team of freshman but the baskets are still the same height and distance as they are at home. There is no excuse for this kind of performance on the road. When the shots aren’t falling you would think they would be attacking the basket. Then when they do go to the basket they go to softly.
Tommie Liddell needs to get a little meaner around the basket. He just lets guys abuse him around the basket. An example is last night in the first half I don’t remember who it was drove the baseline and instead of planting his feet he gentlemanly gets out of the way.

Lastly, Whats wrong with Kevin Lisch? Is he hurt or what his play has been very inconsistant. Young team or not you do not lose conference games like we have lost to Temple and Xavier. What is the line for the Dayton game 45. I’ll say 72-44. This team is rocketing toward journeyman status with the local masons.
