Love wins.

Theresa Lisch, the No. 5 scorer in SLU history and probably their best player ever, announced today she’s leaving school to follow her husband to be to Europe, where his professional basketball future apparently waits. Lisch will complete her degree in May and while she has a year of eligibility left, she’s choosing to be with her fiancee, Trent Meacham, in Europe. The wedding date is in July.

“It means we won’t be seeing box and ones next season,” SLU coach Shimmy Gray-Miller, who said the announcement wasn’t bitter and was only sweet. “How can I possibly be disappointed,” Gray-Miller said. “She got her degree, she fell in love, she’s going to support her husband. I’ve watched this kid go from being a teenager to become a woman. It’s what it’s all about at this level.”
