SLU will open with SEMO on Nov. 14
SLU hasn’t released its basketball schedule, and likely won’t for a few months, but Southeast Missouri State released its schedule today and it has a game with SLU on Nov. 14 at Chaifetz. And, since SLU isn’t taking part in a preseason tournament, that should be the season opener, unless they squeeze another game in before that. I’m not sure what the official opening day is this year, but historically, it’s that weekend.
From coach Dickey Nutt in the SEMO release: “We want to make St. Louis one of our top recruiting areas and try and have great presence in this city.” Our fan base is strong in St. Louis and we want to do everything we can to give our fans a chance to see us play a quality opponent.”
The teams last played during the 2004-2005 season with SEMO winning 65-49. The Bills lead the series 7-4.
I’m told SLU had been pursuing a home-and-home with Kentucky, but it now looks like that won’t be happening, at least this year.
