Aussie coach praises Ellis’ rebounding
Australia coach Marty Clarke did a Q and A with FIBA.com after the Emus’ game with Argentina and had this to say about SLU recruit Cody Ellis:
Q: Cody Ellis really stepped up late in the game with a couple of big shots and rebounds.
A: Yeah he did, he really got on the glass. I thought he and Ryan Broekhoff really did a good job for us on the glass later in the game. In fact we kept them to one offensive rebound in the second half, they had 10 in the first, and that really is a big key.
It’s something that young guys don’t place a lot of emphasis on, they think about putting the ball in the hole, but it’s about starving other teams of opportunities, and I thought they did a good job.
As anyone who reads this blog obviously knows, that’s the kind of thing Rick Majerus loves.
