Brett Thompson joins Soderberg at Lindenwood
A few years after the fact, Brad Soderberg has successfully recruited Brett Thompson. The former SLU center, who transferred after his freshman season, will play for Lindenwood next season. Soderberg had recruited Thompson out of Vienna High but Soderberg was fired before Thompson committed and he became Rick Majerus’ first recruit to SLU. After a season in which he started as a starter and saw his playing time drop sharply at midseason — and with the likelihood of a tough battle for playing time next season — Thompson decided to move on.
From the Lindenwood release:
“I am really excited for a chance to coach Brett,” said Soderberg. “I recruited him heavily while I was at Saint Louis University. He is a great kid and a skilled big man. He has an excellent basketball IQ and can score from the three-point line in. He is the perfect piece for what I already inherited at Lindenwood.”
Thompson will likely find himself in the starting lineup in the fall, which should mean plenty of playing time at the 5 spot.

Thompson should now kiss any post-college plans with this brave move.
Talent down the toilet, its a shame.
And the revolving door that is Billiken basketball continues to swing. How many more will Curly and the rest of his stooges run-off? One thing for sure - there will be more! Oh well, good luck to this young man. Maybe now he can actually enjoy playing a game again.
Started as a starter…does that make sense..would have made more sense if the writer would have mentioned how many games he started last season…My freshman in college could have written a better sentence….whew…
