Ellis helps Australia beat Croatia; Ellis Q and A
SLU recruit Cody Ellis had 14 points and 4 rebounds in a 79-74 win over previously unbeaten Croatia in what sounded like a pretty good game at the world under-19 championships in New Zealand. Australia now moves on to the quarterfinals on Thursday to play France. SLU’s other Aussie recruit, Christian Salecich, had five points. Here’s the boxscore and game story.
Afterwards, the FIBA website did an interview with Ellis. There’s nothing incredibly incisive, but it is acknowledgment of the fact he’s playing pretty well down there. And can the Emus beat the United States?
Said Ellis: “Mate, we can beat them! We can beat anyone on our day. “
As winners of their respective groups, and the only unbeaten teams left, the Aussies and Americans can’t meet until the final.
After taking today off, the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are on consecutive days.
