SLU women’s soccer advances to A-10 semifinals
SLU’s women’s soccer team beat St. Bonaventure 3-0 in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament and will play top-seeded Dayton on Friday night at 7 p.m. Central time. Andrea Barklage scored on a cross that apparently carried into the net in the second minute and then SLU got goals in the 61st and 67th minute (by Ashley Brazill and Kelly Waeckerle) to seal it. After SLU went up 3-0, coach Tim Champion was able to take out his starters and give them some rest. That’s big because with having to play another game the next day is tough, and the less you play the day before the better. SLU and Dayton played in the regular season, with Dayton winning 2-1 in overtime at Dayton. So SLU can play with them.
The other semifinal has Charlotte playing Fordham. The final is Sunday.
