Lineup 3.11: Impromptu doubleheader
JUPITER, Fla. — In the scheduled game, the Cardinals will keep Rick Ankiel hitting cleanup but debut a different No. 3 hitter, when rookie Colby Rasmus slides into the spot reserved for Albert Pujols.
But that’s not only twist for today.
Needing innings — and perhaps soon in need of another starter — and at-bats for the outfielders, manager Tony La Russa put together an intrasquad game. One of the Cardinals competing starters (RHP Brad Thompson) will start against his teammates, and opposite him will be RHP Mike Parisi. Reliever Russ Springer will also throw in the game, and minor leaguers will play the field. The lineup for the impromptu game is posted after the lineup for the 1 o’clock game against Baltimore.

i bet this is the only time in his life that aaron miles has hit in the three hole. i bet he drives in three. after all, he’ll have that base stealing threat jason larue in the two spot. but seriously, tony has some really hard decisions when making the next cuts. the cards really do have a bunch of talented outfielders. any chance of a trade for a shortstop or a pitcher?
