Derek Jeter is not “a meteorologist, bro”
DOWNTOWN — New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was the unofficial host of the 2008 All-Star Game as it visited the Bronx, the spotlight barely found him because of the big cement, facade-famous goliath that was the true star of last year’s main event — Yankee Stadium. Still, he had some advice for the mayor of this year’s All-Star Game, as it came to St. Louis and Albert Pujols was the most famous monument around.
“Enjoy it,” Jeter said.
In this video from the All-Star Game interviews, Jeter talks about Pujols and his role beyond baseball, why the American League has dominated the All-Star Game during his career as an All-Star, and Jeter makes the stunning admission that he’s not “a meteorologist, bro” and therefore shouldn’t comment on the jet streams or atmospheric conditions of the new Yankee Stadium. Jeter begins the interview by asking about how player performance should be judged in the era of questioned power and uncertain production:
