“The Perils of the Peanut Butter Kid” wins award
News from a local author:The Perils of the Peanut Butter Kid by St. Louis author Cynthia Kagan Frohlichstein won Second Place Prize for Children’s Literature in the National 2008 Communications Contest sponsored by The National Federation of Press Women. The awards will be presented on September 12, 2008 at their annual conference held this year in Idaho Falls, Idaho.Previously the book received First Place Prize in the category of Children’s Literature from the Missouri Professional Communicators’ 2008 contest. It was also named one of the Best Books of 2007(Local Kids) by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The Perils of the Peanut Butter Kid follows the adventures of Elmer Kay who can’t get enough peanut butter. The book is suitable for peanut butter lovers ages four and up.
The book serves as a celebration of Frohlichstein’s 33-year survival after breast cancer surgery. To share her appreciation, she makes a donation from every book sold to The Wellness Community, an international organization that provides free education, services and hope to breast cancer patients and their families. She also suggests that attendees bring jars of nutritious peanut butter to her presentations and signings that can be donated to local food pantries in this time of need.

Again, it amazes me at the local literary talent St. Louis has to offer.
Thanks, Jane.
