Tips on lining up to see Jimmy Carter
Several hundred people are expected to come downtown today to get Jimmy Carter’s autograph. Left Bank Books has sold more than 700 copies of the former president’s most recent book, “We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land.” Apparently Carter signs books quickly - he can sign up to 1,600 in two hours.
The event is at the store’s new downtown location, 321 North Tenth Street. Note that Left Bank is now allowing customers to purchase up to six books (print or audio) for Carter to sign. So in addition to at least one $27 copy of “Holy Land,” a buyer can pick up previous titles. Books for signing must be purchased from Left Bank. The downtown store will close at 2 p.m. for security reasons - but books can be bought across the street at the Syndicate Trust Building.
To help this event run smoothly, Left Bank offers several tips:
- Line up for the book signing in the Syndicate Trust Building directly across the street from Left Bank Books Downtown anytime after 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 10. We recommend arriving by 4:00pm.
- VIP ticket holders should arrive by 3:30pm.
- Left Bank Books Downtown will close at 2:00pm. After that time, books/tickets may be purchased at the Syndicate.
- Refreshments in the Syndicate will be available for sale by City Grocer.
- Dress appropriately for waiting inside and outside.
- You may bring a camera, but you will not be able to take pictures from the signing line, and you will NOT get to pose with President Carter. You may briefly take a picture from the designated photo area after your book has been signed.
There are several parking garages nearby:

I’d also recommend taking Metrolink to the 8th and Pine station. Why use a car and fight rush hour and Presidential traffic?
Wait in line to see the worst President in history (depending on how you feel about Bush, of course), the friend of America’s enemies, and pay for the privilege? You’re kidding, right? If I want to hear the Palestinian victimhood viewpoint, I’ll listen Al Jazeera directly. After all, they were such great stewards of the Holy Land before Israel existed and built a vibrant, diverse economy. Oh wait, that WAS Israel. The folks who now call themselves Palestinians were nomadic goatherders who merely wanted to murder infidels and meet their 72 virgins.
