National Poetry Month begins today and runs through April. This is one of the few month designations (Black History Month is another) that has actually seemed to raise awareness of its subject. It seems to be popular in schools, at least.

Here are a few online poetry links:

* The Academy of American Poets, the brainpower behind National Poetry Month, offers a poem every day at poets.org (the site also has poems to download to mobile devices).

* Knopf is offering a poem by John Updike to kick off a month of daily poems. (http://poem-a-day.knopfdoubleday.com)

* School Library Journal notes 30 Poets/30 Days, the brainchild of blogger and author Gregory K. Pincus, who’ll share one new poem each day in April via his blog, GottaBook, and on Twitter.

* The Poetry Foundation has 30 new films as part of Poetry Everywhere, a poetry film series. The films will air at pbs.org, poetryfoundation.org, YouTube, and iTunes. One is a poem by St. Louis’ Sally Van Doren.

* The Library of Congress has a site that offers a poem a day for high school students (it’s not just for April).  Poetry Daily offers a poem a day for everyone and Poets & Writers and DailyLit offer “Masters of Verse.”

Thanks for the link to 30 Poets/30 Days and for all the other poetry links as well. It’s nice to see others spreading the word!
