Like to have a bookseller recommend a great beach read? Here’s a whole ‘nuther list to add to our summer book story that runs in print on Sunday (May 24). Most of these are fiction (shows where book lovers’ hearts lie, I guess).

St. Louis area independent booksellers offer titles they have read or are eager to read in the coming months.

From Vicki Erwin of Main Street Books

”The Last Child” by John Hart

”The 39 Clues: Beyond the Grave” by Jude Watson

“Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” by Alan Bradley

”Tenth Grade Bleeds” by Heather Brewer

Kelly von Plonski from Subterranean Books

For books I’ve already read that I can’t wait to share with our

customers:

“The Magicians” by Lev Grossman

“The Angel’s Game” by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

“The Girl Who Played With Fire” by Steig Larsson

Books I haven’t read but am eager to see:

“Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer” by Novella Carpenter

“White is for Witching” by Helen Oyeyemi

“Johannes Cabal the Necromancer” by Jonathan Howard

From Nikki Furrer of Pudd’nhead Books

“Everything Matters!”  by Ron Currie, Jr.

“Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” by Alan Bradley

“Laura Rider’s Masterpiece” by Jane Hamilton.

“The Great Perhaps” by Joe Meno.

From Kris Kleindienst of Left Bank Books

 ”Border Songs” by Jim Lynch

“This Is Where I Leave You” by Jonathan Tropper

“Into the Beautiful North” by Luis Alberto Urrea

From Helen Simpson of Big Sleep Books

“Nobody Moves” by Denis Johnson

Hi! Just wondered why no mass market books are featured? Recently, Debbie Macomber was in town and there was no coverage of her autograph party in west county. There was a big crowd and she’s a wonderful author who sells millions of books - hardcover and mass market. Her visit to St. Louis definitely deserved to be covered by our only newspaper.

Hello Ms. Hendersen: Nice posting here and interesting article in the P-D this weekend. I am wondering how to get my novel, YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD FOR SPACE CAMP, mentioned in the Post. Does it have to be a part of a bookseller notice or can I send a press release to you directly?
Thanks for your service to writers.
