Want a character in a book named after you?

You can buy chances as part of a fund-raiser for the St. Louis Public Library Foundation.

Each chance in the raffle is $25. Winners will get a character named after them in a book by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro, Angie Fox, Michael Kahn or Susan McBride.  Another  winner will host Curtis Sittenfeld as a guest at his or her next book club meeting. Sittenfeld, who lives in St. Louis County, is the author of “American Wife.”

The raffle is part of “Stranger Than Fiction,” a fundraiser at the library Nov. 14. Raffle winners do not have to be at the event, however. Call 314-539-0359 to buy raffle tickets or tickets to the party.

Central Library, 1301 Olive Street, is expected to close next year for renovation. More information about the party ($75 per individual) is at http://www.librarystf.com/.
