Is ‘New Moon’ faithful to book?
I’ve overheard teen-agers in my backseat having more intelligent conversation than you hear in two hours of “New Moon.” And if they were as depressed as Bella and Edward, I would send them to the emergency room, not Florida (as the dad threatens Bella). Or maybe just an emergency room in Florida.
The new movie is slow, Dakota Fanning has little to do, and the special effects are probably as or more cheesy than the first movie. Some of the music early on is overpowering.
And Edward looks just awful, but that’s how it is in the book “New Moon,” often considered the slowest of the four books in author Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series.
But enough of the negative. The girls at a premiere were really cheering for buff Jacob, whose running around the woods in shorts sends off no alarms in comatose Bella. Taylor Lautner’s warmth and beefcake abs seem to win over most of the audience.
We know Jacob doesn’t have a chance, but for a few moments in the movie, when Bella isn’t self-destructing, she and Jacob show signs of life together.
What did you think? Is “New Moon” faithful to the book? Does the fact that the book is a downer cast a pall over the movie?

This movie is EXACTLY like the book…the only thing thrown in was to make it a tad more action packed since this book doesn’t evolve around physical conflict but emotional conflict instead. LOVED IT!!!! Thought EVERYTHING was better than Twilight!
It sounds as if this person isn’t that much of a Twilight fan overall. If they would’ve read the books, they would’ve known that Dakota Fanning’s character is only in the book for no more than a few minutes, so how could she be in the movie any longer? Since I haven’t read 3 and 4 yet, I am just thinking this was her introduction. Also, Edward is supposed to look awful in this book…he had to break the heart of his only true love he’s finally found since he’s been roaming the earth as a vampire for 90 years to try to keep her from harm! And as a matter of fact, although his heart no longer beats, he has actually broken his own, too. How would anyone look when they are that depressed! I can’t wait to see it on Sat. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I’m sure it will be awesome!!
Read all 4 books and think that they are CRAP.
Twilight was a bad movie and my expectations for New Moon are low.
BUT…. Just like what happened with the boy wizard Harry Potter this craze has encouraged people of all ages to actually read books with Chapters. You go Stephenie Meyer make yourself some easy money!!!!!!
This movie is so awesome! Lots of action and can easily be watched over and over and over again! Infact I think I am going to watch it again right now!
i thnk u r rite plus wen i was reading the book i got realy depressed stephenei meyer should have done somat else no that edwrd and bella break up and the way she explains bella s feelings and how depressed she is. she could have done sumat else insted and thaught of her readers plus in the movie you r rite jacub is verry hot and i love his smoking hot abs
I honestly think TTucker nailed it best - New Moon (Luvd it!)revolves more around emotional pain than it does physical pain, & I rlly & truly think New Moon (It rocked out loud!!)portrayed that perfectly, & altho the ending 2 Twilight (Luvd it 2!!!) was kind of weak, the rest of the movie was praise-worthy … Stephanie Meyer did an excellent job w/ the books, & Katherine Hardwick did an excellent job w/ the movies, along w/ all the others who pitched in 2 make them the successes that they were, camera-men as well as actors & actresses …. TEAM JACOB!♥!♥!♥!♥!♥!
