Picoult fans: movie out June 26
The movie of Jodi Picoult’s popular book “My Sister’s Keeper” will be in theaters June 26. The cast includes Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, Alec Baldwin and Jason Patric. The story is a natural tear-jerker and the movie will be geared to women. It’ll likely boost sales of the author’s books. A mass-market paperback (movie tie-in) goes on sale May 19.
Picoult’s book is an ethical dilemma featuring a family that has a child to help provide bone marrow, etc., for an older sibling who has leukemia. But as the younger daughter gets older, she resents being a living organ bank.
Picoult fans: Is “My Sister’s Keeper” her best book? What other book should be made into a movie? And how do you stand on the issue: Should a girl’s body be her own or is she bound by family ties to help a sick relative?
