The number of books I read during the next three months is the same number I read any three-month period. My life is NOT divided up into summer vs. non-summer reading. Books and reading are my life all year long.

The concept of Summer Reading implies that we are all still in grade school and waiting for vacation when we can read for fun. The only adults that applies to are teachers and stay-at-home parents. The rest of the world lives twelve months a year, not on a nine plus three routine.

I do find my preferences in what type of books I am reading is seasonal, though. I do read more ’serious’ books in the fall and winter. I tend to dabble in quicker reads during the summer. Early habits die hard, I guess.

Not really apologizing, but watching the Cardinals takes the biggest chunk out of my summer reading. I try to make up for that on vacation, when reading is my primary pastime.
