Pudd’nhead taking books to Tower Grove market
Pudd’nhead Books, which just opened last fall, seems to keep raising its profile around town.
It will be selling books at the Tower Grove Farmers Market this Saturday (May 9) and offering a storytime. Meanwhile, book browsers are now allowed to spill over into the Big Sky Cafe garden until 1 p.m. while at the store (37 South Old Orchard in Webster Groves). It even has a dog photographer in the store at 11 a.m. this Saturday to take pictures of pooches holding their toys!
Next week, two authors with very interesting books with local ties will be at Pudd’nhead.
One is Olivia Gentile, author of “Life List,” a biography of famous Webster Groves birder Phoebe Snetsinger. She’ll be in town May 16.
The second is Matthew Algeo, who wrote a story about how Harry and Bess Truman went on an cross-country (or half-country) trip after Truman left the White House. The book is “Harry Truman’s Excellent Adventure,” and Algeo will be in town on Thursday, May 14.
Both books, besides have the obvious Missouri angles, reflect how different American life was just a few decades ago. For more on both fascinating books and the signings at Pudd’nhead, see the author stories in the Sunday print Post-Dispatch or on-line this coming weekend.
