Help for writers: workshop in Kirkwood
Rebecca Carron will discuss “Critical Elements of the Short Story” in a workshop from 10 a.m. till noon Saturday (Aug. 1) at the Kirkwood Community Center, 111 South Geyer.
The workshop is $5 (free for members of St. Louis Writers Guild). Carron will lead a discussion of famous short stories then talk about how to create memorbable characters and vivid settings.

Carron, who earned her Ph.D. in 2004 in English Literature from St. Louis University, will also read from her collection of “edgy” poetry at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Poems, Prose and Pints event upstairs at Dressel’s Pub, 419 North Euclid.
