St. Louis parking (relatively) cheap
For those who believe parking in St. Louis is a bit pricey, here’s some perspective.
Colliers International’s 2009 parking rate survey says that the national monthly rate is $154. St. Louis checks in at a thrifty $105. Bringing up the survey’s rear is Bakersfield, Calif., with a monthly rate of only $40.
Closer to home, monthly rates include $110 in Columbus and Milwaukee, $105 in Indianapolis and only $57 in Memphis.
Now for the top tier in parking cost: Chicago is $325, Boston is $403 and, at the pinnacle of parking, is midtown Manhattan with a monthly rate of $550. Yikes.

The real questions is whether expensive parking is good or bad and whether high parking costs drive efficient development or is the result of efficient development.
good question. the cities with high parking costs are economically healthy.
I wonder why the Plaza in Kansas City is so successful? Do they have free parking? Hmmm……
