Four longtime businessmen and civic leaders are this year’s winners of the Cornerstone Achievement Awards from the Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles.

Recognized by the civic group were Ben Blanton, Harold Burkemper, Henry Elmendorf, Bob McKelvey and Jerry Scheidegger. All have spent many years in construction, real estate or various other economic development endeavors in St. Charles County.

Also among the group’s awards was the Economic Progress Award , which went to St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann, St. Louis County Executive Charles Dooley and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay for their efforts to establish a China cargo hub at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
