Von Maur work about to begin in Lake Saint Louis

Von Maur Department Stores says construction will begin this month on its Lake Saint Louis store, its first in Missouri.

The store, at The Meadows at Lake Saint Louis, is scheduled to open in fall 2010. Davis Street Land Co., the developer of The Meadows, is based in Evanston, Ill. Plaza Frontenac is among the properties it operates.

Von Maur, based in Davenport, Iowa, and in business since 1872, chose St. Louis-based S.M. Wilson to build the two-story, 124,000-square-foot store at The Meadows. The department store chain said the Lake Saint Louis store, the company’s 25th in 10 states, will employ about 225 people.
