NorthSide launches discussion board
File under “Websites worth watching.”
McEagle Properties today launched an online discussion board for its massive NorthSide redevelopment project. It’s a place where people can discuss the project, report property maintenance problems and share their thoughts with developers (fair warning, it does say that comments like “Stay out in the county where you belong,” will be deleted. They ask that discussion “contribute to enhancing community development”). All semi-anonymously.
The discussion board is the latest effort by McEagle to reach out to the community on the $8 billion project, a sharp contrast with five years of silent land-buying. The developer is, however, seeking $200 million in city guarantees on infrastructure bonds. It may need all the public support it can get.
P.S. Are you on Twitter? We are. Keep up with the latest on St. Louis real estate and development news, by following here.

This could turn into one of the best things to happen in the St. Louis region in many, many decades. We can support the project (i’m not necessarily suggesting the city guarantees the bonds) and contribute to our city’s recent progress at becoming a great city again. OR we could boo woo like a bunch a chronic complainers like we so often do and nothing will ever change. I can’t BELIEVE all the negativity on these blogs. The city garden, awesome! But you read some of the negative rants from people about it on here and everywhere. It’s depressing. I’ve never been more proud of our city and region than in the past 6 or 7 years. Things are looking better than they have in a long time for St. Louis, please get on board St. Louis!
I’m with you, Mrwestcounty. The negativity is suprising on some of the previous articles. Let’s face it, the state of the city in the last 40 years is not good. What we are doing as a whole just isn’t working. So many complain if you do and complain if you don’t. You gotta take some risk in all aspects of life and this is no different. St. Louis is slowly slipping off the map, it’s such a shame, it has so much potential. North city is one the the worst areas in the country, let’s do something about it!
Who is going to want to move into North City with all the crime? I’m guessing not mrwestcoutny. They need to fix the crime problem first. I think a little racial profiling would be a good start. Pull them over, check for guns, lock them up. You people that think you can just build new construction to cover up the crap are fooling yourself.
“Crime”? C’mon, if you mean black people, just say so. Coward.
I hope that some day SkiptomyLou gets pulled over and arrested on false charges. What an idiot.
