Uniforms? Check. Spit-shine shoes? Check. Schick razor? Check.

Schick, the world’s second-biggest maker of wet shaving products, is donating 640,000 razors to the United Service Organizations (USO), a non-profit group chartered to boost the morale of military personnel.

Schick, owned by Energizer Holdings Inc. of Town and Country, will destribute its Xtreme3 Comfort Plus disposable razors for women and Quattro For Men shavers through USO centers in the U.S., as well as in Operation USO Care Packages.

USO centers in Colorado, Texas and North Carolina will receive 280,000 razors to be given directly to service members. The remaining 360,000 razors will be included in care packages to be distributed to deploying troops, troops arriving and departing on rest and recuperation flights, as well as troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and other places overseas.

“This donation from Schick means a lot to the USO,” said Edward A. Powell, USO president and CEO, in a statement. “The men and women of the U.S. armed forces risk their lives every day, and we are proud to provide a useful product to thank America’s troops for their service and sacrifice.”

Ken Shaw, director of sales for Schick in Milford, Conn., “We are very grateful for all of our armed forces and the freedom they provide day in and day out for this nation. We are proud to be able to work with the USO and support our troops and their families with this donation of razors.”
